Friday, March 23, 2012 from 7:30 until 10:00 PM
Westchester Skating Academy in Elmsford, NY
In the past four years, the Fire & Ice Skate-a-Thon has raised over $30,000 for research on Erythromelalgia and STOP EM! Although STOP EM has closed down (click on the STOP EM Letter tab for more information), I'm committed to continuing to run the Skate-a-Thon to help people with medical disorders. Though the organization that will benefit from the Skate-a-Thon has changed, I have kept the name of the event the same to always stay connected to why it was started – to help people in pain with rare medical illnesses.
This year’s event will benefit people afflicted with a painful and debilitating medical condition called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. The profits from the Skate-a-Thon will be donated to EDNF, the Ehlers-Danlos National Foundation. So far, $7,000 has been raised for EDNF, and it's not too late to donate!
Here's how you can help:
Sponsor me to skate in the Skate-a-Thon
Click on the Forms tab, download the form called "Sponsor Nikki Metzger," and mail it in with your tax deductible donation to the address on the form.
Skate with me at the Skate-a-Thon and get people to sponsor you
Click on the Forms tab, download the form called "Skater's Instructions." Get family and friends to sponsor you, and come skate for a good cause. The suggested minimum amount collected to participate in the Skate-a-Thon is $25. This will cover your skating admission, skate rental, and a door prize. Remember... this is a fundraiser! Your generosity is appreciated.
Please click on the RSVP tab, and let me know you plan to attend.
Sponsor another skater to skate in the Skate-a-Thon
If a participant approaches you to sponsor them in the Skate-a-Thon, just add your information to their Sponsorship Form and give them your tax-deductible donation made out to EDNF.
**Participants get up to four (4) hours of Community Service hours**
The skater who raises the most money will win a $50 Visa Gift Card!
Door prizes will be given! Prizes will be raffled!
It’s a great way to have some fun skating while raising money to help people with Ehlers-Danlos.
